  • Police Dog Retires After Seven Years on the Force

A retired member of the RCMP has long walks and lots of time on his bed in his future.

“Tank,” a seven-year veteran of the RCMP Police Dog Services team in this province, recently hung up his collar.

Tank was born in 2008 at the RCMP’s training centre in Innisfail, Alberta and completed his training in 2010.

Tank has help to track down criminals, find missing people and even helped accident victims who wandered into the woods. He also took an active role in touring schools, seniors homes and communities groups to spread the message; “Get high on life, not on drugs”.

His handler, Sergeant Bill Frisby says Tank was “a dedicated team player” and always “ready to give 100 per cent.”

His retirement will be spent enjoying time at home “living in perfect adopted harmony” with Frisby and his family, which includes another dog, cats and even a rabbit.
