  • Police Release Images of Suspect in Armed Robbery Investigation

The RNC have released surveillance images of the man responsible for an armed robbery at a jewelry store in the Village Shopping Centre yesterday evening.

RNC responded to a report of an armed robbery at Charm Diamond Centre in the mall just before 9:30 last night.

A man, armed with a firearm and a large hammer entered the mall. Initial reports indicated that he had fired the gun, but police say that was not the case.

The sound of the hammer smashing the jewelry case is what police believe may have led people to think a gun had been fired.

The suspect is described as 5’5″ tall with a slim build. He had his face covered during the robbery. He fled the scene in a red four-door, older model car heading in the direction of Topsail Road from Columbus Drive.

There were no injuries, but police say they have since learned that bystanders confronted the suspect as he was trying to flee. They are asking the public not to intervene during an armed robbery.

Police are appealing to anyone with dashcam footage or who may have witnessed suspicious activity in the rear parking area near Klondike Jake’s to contact RNC at 729-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
