  • Protest For Colten Boushie at Supreme Court

More than 50 people gathered at Supreme Court in St. John’s yesterday to show support and stand in solidarity with the family of an aboriginal man shot and killed in Saskatchewan in 2016. Other protests were held across the country.

Gerald Stanley, a 56-year-old, white Saskatchewan farmer, was found not guilty of murder in the death of twenty-two-year-old Colten Boushie on Friday.

Lindsey Batt was one of the protestors who gathered yesterday. She says Indigenous people have no say in the Justice System.

She says it’s just another example of injustices towards Indigenous people in the country. She pointed to the growing number of missing and murdered Indigenous women in the country.
