The Transportation critic for the provincial PC Party says the Ball government has once again shown poor winter road maintenance after another ambulance was left to fend for itself in stormy conditions.
Barry Petten says the latest incident occurred last weekend between Stephenville and Corner Brook when attendants were transporting a patient with a very narrow window for life-saving emergency care.
Petten says although it was hours before midnight and visibility was fine, highways between Stephenville and Gallants were heavily snow-covered, and a request for a plow was ignored.
This comes just weeks after ambulances were left stranded on the Avalon Peninsula, one near Whitbourne and the other near Trepassey.
Petten says a pattern of inadequate snow clearing is impacting emergency response across the province and that’s very concerning and unacceptable.
He says Premier Ball’s Liberals are failing to do anything about a situation that’s happening over and over again.
