An outspoken advocate for issues affecting the Innu and northern communities is raising serious questions about the coastal boat servicing the north coast.
Simeon Tshakapesh told VOCM Open Line with Darrell Power that questions remain as to whether the new service from Cartwright to Nain will meet the needs of the region.
He says government should consider keeping on the Northern Ranger while the new service is tested. He there are some questions surrounding the shipment of dangerous goods in particular.
He says from what he’s heard only 25 passengers will be allowed on board when dangerous goods are being shipped, and he’d like to see the Ranger kept on for the time being.
