As of today, it is t-minus one month from the legalization of recreational cannabis across the country.
But the some 300,000 registered users of medicinal marijuana still have some questions.
Helen Stevenson is CEO of the insurance provider Reformulary Group. She says Canadian doctors have been hesitant to prescribe cannabis because of a lack of research surrounding its use and interaction with other medications.
She says some cannabis producers do their own research into their own products, but there isn’t much independent research as yet on its medical use.
Stevenson says more research is always happening, and the hope is to narrow down a standard practice for the medical application of cannabis.
