  • VIDEO Rains Fade, But Damage Done on West Coast

Although the heavy rains that pounded western Newfoundland for most of yesterday tailed off overnight, they left washouts, blocked storm and sewer drains, and general havoc behind from Deer Lake to Stephenville and points south.

Cleanup continues, and many roads in western regions were still impassible this morning while others were down to one lane under dangerous conditions.

You can see more photos and video of the scene here.

The City of Corner Brook has declared an emergency due to the excessive rain, melting snow, infrastructure damage and an overwhelmed drainage system.

Mayor Jim Parsons says his City is looking at millions of dollars in damages from the storm.
