The new RCMP Detachment in Whitbourne had its official grand opening today.
Many residents gathered for the grand opening of the new and modern RCMP detachment in Whitbourne today. Detachment Commander, Sergeant Dion Foote says the RCMP are very excited about the move.
Foote says, the new location is a great asset for the detachment, being close in proximity to both Holyrood and Placentia. Given their long history with Whitbourne, he says staying in the area was important to them.
The nine officers in the Whitbourne detachment, made the move to the new location back in January. Foote says, although the move is only approximately three kilometres closer to the highway, its benefits will be significant. He says three or four minutes could be a matter of life of death.
MP Judy Foote, MHA Sherry Gambin Walsh and Assistant Commissioner Peter Clarke was there to cut the ribbon to make the move official.
