A social media message on Facebook over the weekend prompted Carbonear Academy to contact the RCMP.
In a Synervoice message from the school, adminstration confirmed there were inappropriate comments posted to social media regarding the school.
The message said administration decided those comments should be investigated by RCMP, but that the RCMP found no threat to the school community.
Trinity Conception RCMP Staff Sgt. Greg Hicks says investigators were called to the school around 9:30 this morning.
He says some messages sent over social media were of some concern, and they were brought to the attention of school staff.
An investigator was sent to the school, and Hicks says they read the messages, spoke with the child involved, and determined there was no threat to anyone at the school or the school itself.
He says they were able to make sure supports were put in place for the child.
