A member of the Royal St. John’s Regatta Hall of Fame has passed away. Sandy Greeley, who’s known as the father of rowing in Portugal Cove-St. Philips, passed away Friday after a brief illness.
He was also the chief architect of the Portugal Cove-St. Philips Regatta, which is held after the St. John’s event. Greeley was inducted into the Royal St. John’s Regatta Hall of Fame as a coxswain.
He is resting at Carnell’s in St. John’s. Sandy Greeley was 76 years old.
