The carcass of an animal pulled from a pond in CBS in May turned out to be a coyote.
RNC were called after a reported case of apparent animal cruelty.
A resident found the remains of what appeared to be a dog submerged in a saltwater pond off Pond Road.
The carcass, which was severely decomposed, was retrieved and found to have twine around its legs.
The Chief Veterinarian’s office examined the remains and found that the animal, which was determined to be a coyote, had been shot.
It’s not known if the animal had been legally hunted, or how it got in the pond, but the matter has been concluded.
