  • Rescue Crews Respond to Stranded Hiker on Signal Hill

The St. John’s Regional Fire Department’s High Angle Rescue Team was called into action early this afternoon after a hiker ran into a bit of trouble while walking the North Head Trail at Signal Hill.

It was raining steadily at the time.

Platoon Chief Robert Fowler says shortly before noon they got a call from Parks Canada about a hiker who became stranded and needed help.

He says Parks Canada sent their staff down to evaluate where the person was located, and the Fire Department was called in to bring the hiker back up to safety.

Fowler says the hiker was uninjured, and after a brief assessment, was able to walk back to the parking lot.
