  • Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Opens New CBS Detachment

It’s a new day for Conception Bay South as the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary officially opened the doors to their new detachment in the heart of the province’s second largest community.

RNC Chief Joe Boland expressed his gratitude to all levels of government and community who came together over the last few years to make the new detachment a reality. He says it is slightly smaller than the Corner Brook headquarters but it services a larger population.

The building—located on the CBS Highway—has everything the force will need, according to Boland. The new detachment contains policing, patrol, traffic, community and police dog services as well as criminal investigation officers. Boland says the new location even includes a police reporting centre that operates 9:00 to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

CBS Mayor Terry French says having a detachment in community is something the municipality needed.

French says CBS is the second largest community in the province and that comes with all the elements. He says crime has filtered into the town and he believes a police presence is crucial.
