The second annual FemFest is underway in St. John’s this weekend.
Jenny Wright of the St. John’s Status of Women Council says this year, they’ll be looking at feminist deeds in the community.
Activism is the main focus of this year’s workshops. Wright says they’ll examine how to make the community better, and learn from each other.
Wright says there will be a wide range of speakers on a variety of topics.
There will be panels on media activism, women in music, feminist activism for people with disabilities, and feminist parenting.
Speakers include former RCMP officer and author Janet Merlo, and the keynote speaker is activist Beatrice Hunter. There will also be a workshop on how to write a letter to your MP, and a film screening in partnership with the Women’s Film Festival.
Everyone is welcome throughout the weekend at The Space at 72 Harbour Drive.
