The St. John’s businessman who has secured an ECHL team to the capital city says all they need is a lease to get things going, and time is of the essence.
Dean MacDonald and Glenn Stanford now have to wait out the arbitration process between Atlantic Sport and Entertainment and St. John’s Sport and Entertainment over a clause in the leasing contract with the St. John’s Edge that expired January 22.
Atlantic Sport and Entertainment’s exclusive right to bring in a hockey team ended January 22 according to the clause, but the group is arguing to have that changed.
Dean MacDonald says they have a deal with the East Coast Hockey League who are not interested in joining a partnership with ASE. MacDonald says they simply have to wait out the arbitration process in order to secure a lease, and time is of the essence.
