The St. John’s Regional Fire Department is urging drivers to be vigilant when passing emergency scenes after an incident earlier this week.
On Wednesday, mere hours after posting a tip to drivers not to run over fire hoses, the St. John’s Firefighter’s Association says somebody did exactly that. A vehicle ran over a fire hose, causing it to burst.
The Association says this can add to response time and endanger lives.
The Platoon Chief with St. John’s Regional, Paul Chaytor, says it is best to avoid the scene all together.
He says that equipment is more likely to break in the cold temperatures.
