  • Southcott Awards Honour Those Preserving Built Heritage in NL

    The Newfoundland and Labrador Historic Trust has recognized efforts to preserve the province’s unique built heritage with the 24th annual Southcott Awards.

    The award for Heritage Restoration went to the Memorial United Church Congregation in Bonavista; Aiden Greene for Greene House in Tilting, Fogo Island; and John Dodds and Diane Boyes for the Museum in Pike’s Arm.

    Eric Coleridge of Trinity was recognized with the Southcott Award for Heritage Tradesperson. The award for Design in Context went to Michael Ladha and Keir McIsaac for 118 Military Road in St. John’s, and to Hilary Rose and John Cavanagh for 17 Winter Place.

    The award for Adaptive Reuse when to the Hardman Group Limited for MIX, St. John’s. The Duff-O’Dea Lifetime Achievement Award went to David Bradley of Bonavista.

    The awards were handed out last night at the Crow’s Nest Officer’s Club in St. John’s.
