This is one of the busiest days of the year on our highways and at least one police officer doesn’t like what he has been seeing the past couple of days.
Police detachments throughout the province take extra measures on the Victoria Day Weekend to catch drivers who disobey the rules of the road, so expect to see checkpoints.
The RNC already issued 31 speeding tickets on Pitts Memorial Drive and the Outer Ring Road over a two-hour period. Speeds recorded by police reached up to 152 km/h.

Drunk and distracted driving and speeding among the things police are watching for.
Cst. Dennis Hann of the Northeast Avalon RCMP says people are driving way too fast.
He says he has had some very high speeds already today.
