The City of St. John’s has filed an affidavit in response to Danny Williams’ court application regarding the Galway development.
Williams, the developer behind the massive commercial and residential project claims that staff at City Hall will not give his company the necessary permits to continue work until he waives his right to take the city to court.
That’s not something he’s prepared to do.
Williams argues that the delays are not only holding up the project, but preventing much-needed employment in difficult economic times.
Arguments on the applications are scheduled to be heard in court December 19.
The City says Galway is an important project for the city and the entire region. It says council is committed to ensuring proper municipal regulation of the project, in the best interests of citizens.
