A man who grew up in the St.John’s area will spend at least the next 25 years in prison. Derrick Lawlor was convicted of first degree murder earlier this week in the death of Mark McCreadie in Kitchener-Waterloo 3 1/2 years ago.
The two men had been having sex the night that McCreadie died. He had been strangled by a scarf or scarf-like object.
Lawlor had previously been sentenced to four years in prison in the suffocation death of a man in Newfoundland/Labrador in 1985.
He was later pardoned.
