  • St. John’s Unveils Bike Trail Master Plan

The City of St. John’s today unveiled its new proposal for a Bike Master Plan.

St. John’s has had its share of fits and starts when it comes to a cohesive bike plan that serves cyclists, motorists and pedestrians at the same time, but Councillor Dave Lane says today’s new plan is precisely about balancing between those groups.

Today’s master plan is built around a Cycling Network of shared-use trails using the cities existing infrastructure.

Key trails at Kelly’s Brook, Virginia River and Rennie’s River will be converted to asphalt paths, suitable for cycling, jogging or just meandering along.

The cost to begin work is $150,000, covered in the 2019 capital budget.

The plan will be voted on at council in two weeks.
