A Nova Scotia-based auto group with strong connections to this province is expanding and making a significant mark on the local automotive dealership landscape.
The Steele Auto Group has either purchased, or is in the process of completing the purchase, of a large number of well-established vehicle dealerships in this province.
President and COO Kim Day says they acquired three dealerships last month, including the former Penney Mazda, City Honda and Gander KIA.
She says plans are in the works to complete a number of other major purchases.
They’re planning to complete the purchase of the Mercedes dealership in St. John’s this week, followed by Gander Hyundai and Grand Falls Hyundai, Simmons Auto and Powerhouse in Gander and the Gander Toyota dealership.
Yesterday, Steele Auto Group and David Tucker announced that Steele is also in the process of buying Tucker Acura in St. John’s.
Steele Auto Group is owned by Newfoundlander Rob Steele, the son of businessman Harry Steele and brother of John Steele, the CEO of Steele Communications.
