Todd Perrin has announced he is seeking the PC nomination for the popular district of St. John’s East-Quidi Vidi.
The outspoken owner of Mallard Cottage announced his bid for the nomination today on VOCM Open Line with Paddy Daly.
On this first full day of spring, excited to announce that I’ll be seeking the PC nomination for the provincial district of St. John’s East/Quidi Vidi in the upcoming provincial election! Looking forward to the challenge and seeing the promise of our province more fully realized

The district is considered an NDP stronghold, with Lorraine Michael holding the seat for over a decade, now stepping down to make room from new-minted NDP leader Alison Coffin.
St. John’s deputy mayor Sheilagh O’Leary also expressed interest in running in the district for the NDP, but has since withdrawn.
Perrin says he doesn’t hold a strong political ideology with any party, but chose the PCs because of issues with the Liberal governance. He says he figures everyone does their best, but he’s seen some missed opportunities and lack of leadership on the part of the Liberals, making the PCs the more attractive option.
Perrin says he thinks Ches Crosbie is trying to solve problems in a new way and make a change in provincial politics.
PC Nominations for the district open today at 4:00 p.m. and continue until the same time Saturday.
