A home on Gallows Cove Road in Torbay was saved from significant fire damage by members of the Torbay Volunteer Fire Department last evening.
Shortly after 6:00 firefighters were called to 35 Gallows Cove Road after the homeowner noticed smoke and flames.
Crews arrived and quickly managed to extinguish the fire, confining the damage to an upstairs room and attic space. The rest of the home incurred smoke damage, and some fire damage was visible around the eave of the house.
Two people and two dogs escaped unharmed. Newfoundland Power was called to the scene to disconnect power to the home.
