For more than 30 years, Trapper John’s has been a landmark on George Street, but multiple violations resulted in the suspension of the establishment's liquor license.
The NLC has suspended the popular bar's right to sell alcohol for six weeks. According to an NLC spokesperson, the owners were in violation of the Liquor Control Act sixteen times over the last six to eight months.
Those infractions included everything from selling booze after hours, to exit violations and smoking on the premises.
A sign on the door of the bar says they are closed for painting and renovations, but next to that in the window is a sign stating the liquor licence has been suspended.
Trapper John’s, which is well known for Screech-Ins, was ordered to close at midnight on Sunday past and will be permitted to reopen on March 27.
VOCM News is attempting to contact the owner, Terry Gulliver.
