Prime Minister Justin Trudeau calls the current problems encountered by federal workers due to the Phoenix pay system “unacceptable”.
Members of the Public Service Alliance of Canada rallied outside the Sheraton Hotel in St. John’s yesterday to bring attention to the situation. Some workers are still waiting weeks and even months to get paid.
Trudeau says it’s a complex problem that they’re working to fix with the unions.
He says they inherited the problem from the previous government who made cuts before making the changes necessary to make it work.
