  • Two Men Rescued After Running Into Issues on ATV Trip

Two men reported overdue following an ATV trip in the woods near Harcourt, Trinity Bay were located and rescued over the weekend.

The men were reported lost Saturday morning after they encountered mechanical issues with their machines.

Contact was made with the two men who were able to describe their surroundings and the general area they were in before their cell phone battery died.

The Triple Bay Eagles Search and Rescue Team were called in for assistance. The team left from the Oliver’s Road area to conduct a ground search while a Cougar helicopter was dispatched by the Joint Rescue Command Centre.

The men hunkered down and were able to light a fire and wait for daylight to get their bearings, when they made their way to a cabin where they were found by the helicopter.

They were airlifted to hospital where they were found to be in good condition.

Clarenville RCMP are thanking all those who assisted in the search.
