A young man accused of murder in the death of his mother’s partner has waived his right to a preliminary hearing. Graham Veitch appeared in provincial court this morning.
The 19-year-old was charged after a series of incidents that unfolded in Logy Bay-Middle Cove-Outer Cove last December.
He’s pleaded not guilty to murder in the death of David Collins, assault, and flight from police.
One charge of assault has been withdrawn.
His lawyer, Mark Gruchy, says Veitch has been struggling with mental health.
Gruchy indicates that Veitch has been having a “difficult time in a very complex way.” His client has been housed at various stages in the Special Handling Unit and other parts of the prison due in large part to his “personal limitations.”
