  • Victim of Stephenville Assault Arrested for Break and Enter Hours Later

    Three men are facing charges following a sequence of events in the same general area of Stephenville over the weekend.

    RCMP were called to a unit in a duplex on Hillview Avenue around 12:30 Sunday morning.

    A 32-year-old man was arrested and charged with a number of offenses including assault, robbery and failing to comply with his probation. He was released to appear in court June 4th.

    A 38-year-old Stephenville man was also arrested and charged with assault, breach of court orders and theft. He was remanded to the Waterford Hospital for an assessment. There were no serious injuries against the alleged victim.

    Meanwhile, later that same day RCMP received a report of a break in a unit next to the scene of the first incident on Hillview Avenue. A 34-year-old Stephenville man, the alleged victim in the first robbery and assault was arrested for break and enter in a completely unrelated incident. He has also been remanded to the Waterford for assessment.

    Police say all the parties involved were known to each other.
