YMCA Summer Work Student Exchange is taking applications.
The Summer Work Exchange is a six-week national program for youth from across the country who will get to travel to a new city or town in Canada to gain employment experience and improve their language skills.
The YMCA has put out a call for both youth and dynamic hosts to participate in the program.
Support Coordinator Nicole Withers is says there is a lot to gain from the program. She says typically when youth complete the program, they’re ready to travel by themselves or take on a new work experience. She says it gives them an opportunity to work, empowers them to do what they want to do, and encourage them to be leaders in their own communities.
This is the 12th year for the program, and involves over 650 youth from across the country.
