Original Townie :

I personally am tired of being behind vehicles that open their windows and let drift. Consequenses to them....zero! Walk any street in St. John's, Mt. Pearl or Paradise. It's disgusting the amount of garbage each side of the street. We have laws for littering but they are never enacted. Beautiful province? Not sure about that comment. Unless these litter bugs pay, they will continue to be the pigs they are, then maybe a beautiful province we will become.

Jason :

A camera works 24-7-365...doesn't ask for more money has a better memory and is more reliable in court...

Frustrated! :

The city of St. John's should put some effort into keeping people from dumping garbage on it's streets! We've contacted the city several times regarding our neighbours dumping their bulk garbage into the street whenever they feel like it, and the city does NOTHING!! We've been looking at bulk garbage being dumped right on the side of the street since June, it's been there piling up for months and the city has been contacted several times and does NOTHING!! Talk about dumping illegally????

Mr. Ed :

It makes no difference how many security companies they hire or how many cameras they install, they'll never catch me dumping trash into the woods because I've never done it. The sad thing about people who dump in the woods is that it's their tax money and ours that pay to clean it up. Is it not easier to take the trash to Robin Hood Bay than out in the woods? Some people are just idiots.

Waste of tax dollars :

The money would be better spent by increasing the hours at the dump or seting up transfer stations for after hours use. Enforcement by mall cops will not fix the problem

Happy about what is being done! :

One great thing happens when idiots like this are made accountable - the shiftless, selfish cowards usually think twice before doing it again. We have a top notch waste facility now that a highway even leads straight to! There is NO reason that I can think of, for people to be dumping like that. If you are one of those, and you do it to save a few bucks, get over it. That is part of the cost of doing business. We live in a beautiful province and city with only a handful of piggish morons that fould it up with garbage. Every dollar spent on this enforcement is a dollar well spent!

Darryl :

I think this is a smart idea, I mean cameras you can hide your Face yet having regular patrols and catching them in the act is so much more better.

Flashlight :

Watch out guys, the mall cops are looking for you.

What a joke. These dumpers are sneeky and I'm sure they don't throw the garbage out when others are around. That's why the cameras work, they don't know they are being watched. I don't expect to hear of the rent a cops doing any stakeouts, but instead just driving around to make their presence known.
