Why are there so many rescues lately for people running out of fuel? Do they know how far their going and how dangerous it is? To many people are taking to the water ill prepared for an emergency. Do they figure that the Coast Guard is there to rescue them and it's what their relying on? It seems tha lately people are risking their lives taking to the water and putting their faith in rescue from the government. Sooner or later poeple are going to die because they do not go out prepared. Why is it so hard to get it across to people that when you're going out on the Atlantic in a small open boat that you had better be prepared? Ignorance will get you killed. Running out of gas is a rookie mistake and only shows me that people don't realize how easily you can lose your life on the water. They think that if we run out of gas all we have to do is call the Coast Guard. One day they will not show up. Just like the Burton Winters story. I thought people on the coast were better prepared than that.
