The proposed slaughter is ignorant and anti-science. Seals can only catch an insignificant percentage of the cod population. Neanderthalic levels of idiocy are on the rise in Canada.

Seals are Ice Rats we need to control the population, we need to eliminate the threat to cod stocks and other fish species.

When Newfoundland was discovered, there were tons of seals and no such thing as a seal hunt. There was also billions of cod.Seals and cod can co-exist in nature.Cod and factory freezer trawlers scraping the ocean floor, don't get along so well.

Who ha ha :

I'll get my 'club' ready, to be sure to annoy any green peace personnel. Just waiting for them to come out of the woodworks. Funny how they apose the seal hunt, but say nothing about cattle slauter, or the crock hunt in the sourthern states... The seal hunt would be a viable indrusty to provide income to the people of NL. But because of how a seal looks they are againsts it. Remember a seal is still a preditor with probably only sharks and Orca whales as natural preditors, feeding of cod, crab, etc.. Let the residents of NL hunt the seals, if regulated properly it will be a great source of income.

So just when did good old Fabian come to this enligtened conclusion. Only because it's going to be approved for the Gulf. You wouldn't know but this was the first time this is being brought up and he wants credit for it. Grow up by. You are such a suck up.

Manning again , what`s wrong with this bunch in the upper chamber ? Aren`t they smart enough to study both grey seals and harp seals at the same time ?. No , wait they need to do something else next week like say the harp seals . Senator Manning and the rest of these decrepit losers would be better off keeping their mouths shut !

H JEFFORD :

Its about time to Get the seal Heard under control, The Fed. Government or what ever DEPT. that is responsible for the cull should get a copy of a film that was Aired on NTV news witch showed seals driving cod fish upon the sea shore and people going to the waters edge and picking up live cod fish off the beach, that were driven ashore by seals,They should do up a news film to show the destruction the seals are doing to the largest food source in the world "THE NORTHERN COD STOCK"
Not only Canada But the Countries all over the world that fished on the Grand Banks Of NFLD Should be there to support CANADA IN ITS EFFORT TO REDUCE THOSE PREDATORS OF THE OCEAN THE GREAT SEAL HEARD.
