Vigils will take place in three locations this evening for Cortney Lake, the young woman who has been missing from the metro region for over a week.
The 24-year-old Mount Pearl woman was last seen on Wednesday, June 7.
Her disappearance has sparked a outpouring of concern and support from within the community and widespread efforts to get her home.
Lake’s aunt, Glenda Power had this message for the young woman:
“…I want you to know that there are people coming for you. The search is continuing, and we will not give up until you come home.”
Power also had a message for those who might know Cortney’s whereabouts:
“It’s never too late to do the right thing.”
“Pick up your phone, call the RNC, call Crime Stoppers, and get this girl home to us.”
Power also extended a thank you to the many people who have shown Lake’s family support during a very difficult time. She also thanked the RNC for raising Cortney’s profile with a social media blitz and hashtag earlier this week. She says it was so helpful to drive the tips coming in to Crimestoppers.
Three vigils will take place this evening at 8:00 p.m. – one at St. David’s Field in Mount Pearl, another at St. Gabriel’s Hall parking lot in Marystown, and another at the Age Friendly Park in St. Lawrence.
