The young woman left paralyzed after a 2017 car accident on Pitts Memorial Drive was on stand today, and recalled asking 23-year-old Joshua Steele-Young to stop the car moments before the crash.
Morgan Pardy was 21 on March 20, 2017. She says she had been in a five-month relationship with the accused, but testified they had broken up a day or two prior.
She says they were arguing in his red Honda Civic that day. Demonstrating for the court against the arm of the wheelchair she is now confined to, Pardy showed the court how she says Joshua Steele-Young was hitting him arm off the centre console of the car in anger.
Pardy testified she wanted nothing more to do with Steele-Young, telling him “it was done.” She says he threatened to kill himself.
Through tears and anger in the packed courtroom, Pardy told the judge, “I was crying, and I was screaming, ‘Let me out of the f—ing car.'” Pardy testified she took off her seatbelt, pleading with Steele-Young to let her out. She says the next thing she recalls is waking up in ICU.

Steele-Young is facing dangerous driving and forcible confinement charges as a result of the single-vehicle rollover. Pardy was thrown from the car, and is now paralyzed from the waist down.
The trial continues tomorrow.
