PC Leader Ches Crosbie says not only will he abolish the 15 per cent tax on auto insurance, but also on homeowner and other lines of insurance, if his party were to take power.
Crosbie spoke to members of the media outside of the College of the North Atlantic on Prince Phillip Drive this morning. He says insurance brokers are sending letters to clients reminding them the sales tax on insurance is still in place, as the budget has not passed.
Crosbie says repealing the tax is at the top of their list. He says their first budget will wipe out the insurance tax altogether.
He says they won’t be adding or increasing any taxes to make up for it either.
Crosbie says they carefully costed it all out and have a plan to manage around the loss of revenue.
