A respected long-time Carbonear businessman has passed away. Peter Sampson of Harbour Grace died yesterday in hospital at the age of 70.
Failing heath forced him to close his iconic barbershop on Water Street in Carbonear in 2017 after 40 years in business. He was one of the last traditional barbers in the region.
While he was well-known as a barber, he was also recognized for his artistic talent, featuring his work both inside and outside his shop.
He leaves to mourn two children and two grandchildren as well as a large circle of family and friends. He is resting at Noel’s Funeral Home, Harbour Grace.
The funeral service will take place Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. from St. Paul’s Anglican Church in Harbour Grace.
