Human remains found near Makkovik last week have been sent to the Chief Medical Examiner for autopsy and identification.
RCMP say the remains were discovered May 18th.
The area has a number of outstanding missing persons cases and officials are trying to determine whether the remains are related to one of those cases.
Among those missing is 18-year-old Jake Basto of Hopedale who was last seen in August of 2014 after leaving Makkovik to go for a walk.
