An unsolved missing persons case that has haunted this province for more than 20 years is being highlighted by the RCMP in the lead-up to National Missing Children’s Day this Saturday.
Adam, Trevor and Mitchell O’Brien haven’t been seen since November of 1996 when police say they were abducted by their father, Gary O’Brien.
The electrician failed to return the children to their mother, and according to police, rigged their Torbay home to explode.

The engine block of a vehicle matching that of Gary O’Brien’s car was later recovered from the water off Red Cliff.
The case garnered international attention, and though many tips have been received, none of the three boys—who would all be adults now—or their father have been seen since.
All week, the RCMP will be featuring the profiles of missing children on the Canada’s Missing website to bring awareness to the cases ahead of National Missing Children’s Day. Three of the featured profiles belong to Newfoundlanders.
Anyone with information on the O’Brien case, or any of the missing children on the Canada’s Missing website, is asked to contact the RCMP.
National Missing Children’s Day is this coming Saturday, May 25.
