A long-time Liberal and passionate advocate for those suffering with rare illnesses has lost his own battle.
Simon Lono was with the Canadian Association for Rare Disorders and called on the province to develop a rare disease strategy.
Lono himself suffered from a rare bone marrow cancer; myelofibrosis. Lono was a Liberal supporter and served in a number of roles both in government and opposition. He offered himself for public office, both provincially and municipally, on a number of occasions.
Today we lost a member of the Lantern Festival family. Simon Lono was a long-standing part of our organization, a dedicated volunteer, knowledgeable mentor, master lantern builder, & a dear friend. Thank you for everything, Simon. Your light will always shine bright with us. RIP pic.twitter.com/sEHcMIilOg
