Memorial University is marking the passing of a retired Anthropology Professor who passed away in March.

Dr. Thomas F. Nemec passed away March 8. He came to St. Shott’s, St. Mary’s Bay from the United States in 1967 to complete his thesis.

He served as an Anthropology professor at MUN for 35 years, and wrote 13 articles for Joey Smallwood’s Encyclopedia of Newfoundland.

Visitation is taking place today at Carnell’s Funeral Home in St. John’s and tomorrow at Our Lady of Fatima in St. Shott’s from where the funeral mass will follow.

Flags are flying at half-staff at Memorial University today to mark his passing.
