A woman who has devoted her life to public service has been recognized as the City of St. John’s Senior of the Year.
Sister Elizabeth Rachel Lee, known to friends and family as Betty Rae, was recognized at last night’s city council meeting.

Lee, born in St. Mary’s in 1942, joined the Presentation Sisters in St. John’s in 1960. She currently serves as Congregational Leader with the religious order. Aside from her religious duties, Lee is also the volunteer board chair at the Lantern and the board co-chair at The Gathering Place.
Lee dedicated the award to the Presentation Sisters.
