The filthy living conditions of workers on the Muskrat Falls site were under the microscope at the Inquiry this morning.
Pat McCormick visited the site several times as a representative of the Hotel and Restaurant workers union.
He says living conditions were poor, from rotten food to filthy rooms without any attempt at cleaning. He said they would complain about sand-slick stairs that were safety hazards, but nothing would be done unless Stan Marshall was coming.
Tom Walsh of the NL Building and Construction Trades Council says it was even worse than that. He says they were told the rooms would be cleaned every two days, but it never happened.
He says workers were lucky if they got their rooms cleaned once every two weeks.
