Jack Harris says the reason he lost the election four years ago was because people were voting to prevent Stephen Harper from returning as Prime Minister.
Liberal Nick Whalen pulled off the upset in St. John’s East and rode the Justin Trudeau wave all the way to Ottawa. All 32 seats in Atlantic Canada went Liberal.
Harris is going to try to win back the seat in next October’s election.
The former leader of the provincial NDP doesn’t think it’s good for Newfoundland and Labrador to have all seven federal seats red.
Harris lost by 600 votes whereas in the previous two elections, his support was in the 70 percentile. He believes he did a good job as MP for St. John’s East, and he would like to continue the work.
