The Music Director at Juniper Ridge Intermediate in Torbay says it is surreal to receive $10,000 worth of instruments from Canadian music icon Corey Hart and MusiCounts.
Students at Juniper Ridge got a special treat yesterday afternoon, after learning about Hart and his music.
Hart teamed up with the MusiCounts Band Aid Program, which provides up to $15,000 worth of musical instruments and equipment to schools across the country, to give Juniper Ridge $10,000 worth of instruments including a drum kit, saxophone, recorders and ukuleles.
The music director at Juniper Ridge, Deanne Coady, spearheaded the initiative. She says when the school opened in 2017, they didn’t have a single instrument.
Coady says it took months of “secretive” planning as they weren’t allowed to tell anyone about the event. She says they have 250 people in their band program.
