A MUN engineering student is trying to make the most out of farm waste.
Dhruv Brahmbhatt is researching a new technology that would turn manure and other waste from Lester’s Farm into bio-gas, mainly methane.
Brahmbhatt says that the bio-gas could be used for electricity, heat or fertilizer for crops. It could even be used to run your car.
He says that by the end of this semester he should know how much bio-gas he could produce from their annual manure. Then he will know if his plan will work for Lester’s Farm or not.
Brahmbhatt was just one of dozens of graduate students presenting their research ideas at the fourth annual Research Day at the MUN Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science Tuesday afternoon.
