Independent MHA Paul Lane is calling on the provincial government to get started on much-needed and promised democratic reform.
Lane says the time is past-due for government and all parities to get serious about the issue.
He says there is a long list of changes that need to be implemented including the amount of money spent by parties and candidates in election campaigns.
Donations by corporate and union donors need to be “slashed, or eliminated outright,” the mandatory use of all-party committees needs to be looked at, rules around conflict of interest and blind trusts need to be explored and recall legislation needs to be introduced.
