A woman who was bullied in school is speaking out with a message of hope for students who may have experienced the same.
Alisha Dicks says she faced unfair treatment and bullying at school because of her physical disability.
She told VOCM’s Paddy Daly she had to fight hard, not only to make people see past her wheelchair, but to prove her teachers wrong when they suggested her disability would hold her back.
Now she’s about to become a teacher to make sure her experience doesn’t happen to others. She says she wants to show students that they don’t have to settle for what others expect of them.
