The man affectionately known as the “singing cobbler” has passed away.
Bill Luffman of Harbour Grace was 84.
He was born in Markland, but moved to Harbour Grace where he set up a shoe repair business. He wrote and performed songs about the people and places around him.
He is best remembered for his tribute to the linesmen of Newfoundland Power with the “Light n’ Power B’ys.”
He was always ready to lend a helping hand and perform at community events to help raise funds for local causes, colourfully dressed.
MHA Pam Parsons paid tribute to Luffman in the House of Assembly in 2017.
Luffman is resting at Noel’s Funeral Home in Harbour Grace with the funeral taking place Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican Church.
