Labrador City-Wabush has been selected as a Welcoming Francophone Community as part of the federal government’s plan for official languages.
Yvonne Jones, MP for Labrador, says by being selected, the government hopes to see a more diverse and strong french speaking community.
Funding of over $600,000 has been given to set up support for the workforce and community needs.
Jones says the goal is to welcome more francophones into the community in hopes of making Labrador their forever home.
